Providing State-of-the-Art Services
Dr. Kenneth Schwartz, Chairman, Radiology/Medical Director, New York Radiology Alliance
Bronx-Lebanon’s Radiology Department underwent transition in February 2012, moving from full time hospital staff radiologists to an independent practice group. New York Radiology Alliance, a subsidiary of vRad, a national radiology provider was selected.

The decision to make this change was based on continuous advancements in radiology that required 24 hour/ 7 day a week coverage by attending radiologists. Highly trained sub specialty radiologists are now on call at all times. In the ER, improved reporting is allowing quicker decision making in the radiologic process.

Similar improvements have also occurred in Orthopedics and Medicine where rapid evaluation of complex problems often requires the input of specialized radiologists who are now readily available.

The ability to utilize the large group of radiologists in the New York Radiology Alliance, as well as the large number of vRad specialists available on line has resulted in an improved level of care. Likewise, the expansion of specialists in mammography and interventional radiology has allowed enhanced service for patients, with a significant decrease in waiting times for exams such as mammography.

With the planned expansion of Bronx-Lebanon’s Ambulatory Care Facility, additional capacity in radiology will be provided including a dedicated small body parts MRI and a dedicated radiology room. A second digital mammography unit will be added to create a true Women’s Imaging Center with advanced digital mammography and sonography located in one central area. Shifting of most ambulatory procedures to the new facility will provide a more pleasant atmosphere for patients while improving the efficiency.

Dr. Kenneth Schwartz, Chairman, Radiology/Medical Director, New York Radiology Alliance is looking forward to continued growth in the radiology area, through the provision of new services, while maintaining the high standards of care already in place. The addition of new fellowship trained radiologists brings the latest technology to the vRad radiology platform, a significant advance for Bronx Lebanon.
